Bauakademie
On a recent trip to Berlin, I was impressed and inspired by the juxtaposition of architectural styles and imaginative redevelopments. At the centre of all of this was, appropriately, the reconstruction of Schinkel’s Bauakademie. To me it seemed that the statues had become animated characters in new and unexpected dramas; and everywhere there were the cranes: like tall, silent animals pausing and staring at the wonder of the new city.
